R22 Replacement

Since 1st January 2015, it has been illegal to use R22 refrigerant to maintain or repair an air conditioning system, If your air conditioning systems is pre 2004, you might want to consider replacing it sooner rather than later.

What is R22 and why is R22 being phased out? R22 is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC), commonly used in air conditioning, process cooling and industrial refrigeration plant applications, when R22 is released into the air, chlorine is released in the stratosphere and reacts with ozone, contributing to ozone layer depletion.

But here is the good news, new refrigerants such as R-410A can transform performance, making the latest R22 replacement systems 40% more efficient in cooling than older R22 systems.

Replacement solutions are available that provide cost-effective and highly energy efficient upgrades for existing R22 and R-407C systems. Yet their installed cost could be up to 50% lower compared with installing a new system.

A range of replacement options is available. So plan for change now, to manage budgets and integrate upgrades into planned building works.

  • Lower running costs

  • Increased system capacity using original piping

  • Planned downtime minimises operational impact

  • Installation schedule can be phased to suit your requirements

  • Re-use existing pipework – quicker & simpler installation

  • Even indoor units can sometimes be reused

  • R22 or R-407C replacement systems available for Split, Sky Air and VRV systems

  • Our technology can also replace other manufacturers’ equipment
